Lumber Docks

Millions of board feet left Grand Marais each year during
the lumber boom days.  This view of the harbor shows piles of
lumber waiting to be shipped, and a fleet of lumber hookers,
schooners, and schooner-barges waiting to load.  Lumbermen
could walk across the floating logs as if they were a carpet.
