Cook, Curtis,and Miller Sawmill, 1906

This photo of the former Cook, Curtis, and Miller Sawmill was taken in 1906.
The mill was located on the southern side of Grand Marais Bay, and at one time
employed over 100 men.  The only remaining evidence of the mill is the shell of
the machinery building, to the rear of the main mill.  It was made of cement to
lessen the chance of fires starting from machinery sparks.
