Grand Marais is a beautiful spot for a wedding! In order to help your planning, we are providing a list of names and numbers you might find helpful.
Getting married on the beach: Weddings are permitted on the public beaches in town. Sunset Boardwalk, overlooking Lake Superior, is a popular spot, as is the beach on the bay overlooking the harbor. There are several bayside locations that are public access spots. Weddings have also been held at the beach at Donahey Woods. If you would like to hold a wedding service at any one of these locations, please call Sandee Sibbald, the Burt Township Secretary, at (906) 494-2381 to reserve the spot.
Finding a minister: Your best bet is to visit our Churches page and contact the minister of your choice.
Where to hold a reception: For indoor receptions, you may want to consider using the Community Center. It can be rented for a nominal fee and has a kitchen, plus two large rooms for dining. Other reception areas for outdoor gatherings are the Marcin Pavilion in Woodland Park and the Bayshore Bandstand overlooking the harbor. To reserve the Community Center or one of the outdoor spots, call the Burt Township Office at (906) 494-2381.
Also, several of the churches in town have halls and may be able to accommodate your group. Contact the churches directly to inquire.
Catering: We suggest you contact the local restaurants.
Wedding Cakes: Contact Helen Scaife, (906) 494-2390. For specialty cookies, contact Elizabeth Scaife at (906) 494-2390.
Flowers: We don't have a flower shop in Grand Marais, but Petal Pushers in Munising does lovely arrangements. You can pick up your flowers or they will deliver. Give them a call at (906) 387-3757.
