Grand Marais: Beauty in All Seasons

We recently visited Pictured Rocks and the Grand Marais area. The area was breathtaking! We found the winds wafting off the surface of Lake Superior invigorating. The pristine waters and colorful array of shore rocks was like music to our eyes. And the vistas offered from the Logslide Overlook area were stunning and humbling. It was our second trip in as many years to the Upper Peninsula but our first to this area. We were not disappointed and look forward to returning next September. We have been from our home in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee to the Grand Canyon, from Yosemite to the Gulf Coast and many points between. The combination of wide open spaces and the intimate and inviting paths and streams around Grand Sable Lake was a splendid and peaceful offering, and ranks right among these icons of nature. I wanted to share a few photos I took at the lighthouse on Coast Guard Point. My husband and I ventured out there on Wednesday evening to watch the sunset. The water was so calm and there was only a slight breeze. I snapped these photos while out on the break-wall. Grand Marais is heaven on earth. You are so blessed to be able to spend every day in paradise!

We love the area! The[se] pictures include two looking west across the bay at sunset, one looking east across Sucker Creek at sunrise and one from last summer of a rather violent day at the Coast Guard Station.
