Grand Sable FallsAre you ready for a real get away?  Located on Lake Superior at the end of State Highway M-77, Grand Marais is the gem of the UP, offering a chance to enjoy the best of the Upper Peninsula anytime of year.  Visitors spend their days hiking and taking in natural marvels such as the Grand Sables Dunes and Falls, the White Birch Forest, the Log Slide or any of the numerous lakes and streams.  They also take advantage of some of the local attractions such as the Maritime Museum, the many gift and craft shops presenting works of local crafters and artisans.  Or, they come to take part in the towns 4th of July or New Years celebrations and other events like the Music and Arts Festival held in August every year. 

Grand Marais is a popular destination for all kinds of sportsmen.  It has become a snowmobilers paradise, receiving an average of 300” of snowfall and over 125 miles of groomed trails; the area offers unsurpassed riding.  Anglers enjoy the best sport fishing in the state, rock hounds find miles of public beach filled with agate, jasper and other precious stones, cross country skiers revel on the many groomed trails maintained by the National Park Service and the Chamber of Commerce, and the hunting cannot be beat.  Miles of sandy beaches are enjoyed by all and a protected swimming beach can be found on the bay.

Burt Township maintains a Class C airport and a full service Marina in Grand Marais making access to the town a breeze!  They also provide 125 camping sites at Woodland Park, located in the heart of the village.  With several motels and many privately owned homes/cabins available, as well as a vast number of National and State owned camp sites, visitors can always find a place to stay in Grand Marais and plan day trips to other locations in the central UP.
