2007 Kids Fishing Pond

A Kids Fishing Pond was the big deal on Saturday afternoon at the Marina; held in conjunction with the 2nd Annual Offshore Challenge. With the interest in the event, Coast Guard Point Road was jammed with cars and the Marina parking lot was a buzz with activity! Approximately 37 kids caught fish, and at least as many adults turned out to watch the fun! Ed Bowen came up with the idea to include the kids and add to the festivities. What a hit!

One hundred (100) hungry rainbow trout, averaging around 10" in size, were brought in from the Watersmeet Trout Hatchery on Thursday evening for the event. Max Lundquist caught the biggest fish at 17 3/4" and received $100.00 from the Fish & Hunt Shop in Curtis!!! Next largest were Dalton Daymon at 15", Samantha Perez at 11 1/4", and Mary Montero and Emma Marais Pierce at 10 3/4" each. The rest of the kids catches were 9 to 10 1/2". There was also a drawing for two $25.00 Gift Certificates to Walmart-one donated by Walmart and the other donated by the Dunes Motel and the Voyageurs Motel, prizes were presented during the finally of the Offshore Challenge.
